How would you describe your style?
My decorating style can be described as Danish pastel/post-modern, but with a little spice to it. I like to call it "kaerukekicore." It's all about blending the serene and minimalistic Danish design with vibrant and unexpected elements that add a touch of excitement. Think soft pastel hues mixed with bold patterns, sleek furniture combined with quirky accents, and clean lines paired with unique art pieces. My style is about creating a harmonious balance between simplicity and a playful twist, resulting in a truly distinctive and captivating aesthetic.
When did you become interested in design and where do you find inspiration?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I developed a genuine interest in decorating. To further explore this newfound passion, I delved into a collection of vintage magazines from the 80s that focused on interior design. These publications served as a wellspring of inspiration for me. Among the various styles, one that particularly resonated with me was space age design. Its futuristic and innovative concepts captivated my imagination, drawing me in with its sleek lines, metallic finishes, and unconventional shapes. The influence of space age design has played a significant role in shaping my decorating journey, inspiring me to incorporate elements of this captivating style into my own unique aesthetic. I also found inspiration in the vintage IKEA catalogs from the 1980s. These catalogs were a treasure trove of design ideas and showcased the trends and aesthetics of that era. The colorful and playful interiors, along with the functional yet stylish furniture, caught my attention. Exploring the pages of these catalogs gave me a glimpse into the past and sparked my creativity. The retro charm and unique design choices have influenced my own decorating style, adding a touch of nostalgia and personality to my spaces.
