Welcome Brendan from Los Angeles, USA! Brendan is currently working as a manager for a software company. In his spare time, he is a musician, who enjoys interior design and watching films. You can find him and his 750 square foot apartment on Instagram and his film reviews on Letterboxd.
How would you describe your style?
In terms of design, at the moment it’s a bit of a mixture between post modern and midcentury modern. Living in an apartment, I don’t want to paint too many of the walls, so I try to add a decent amount of color through the pieces I have. My style is more so about how things make me feel, and using pieces that have some sort of story or resonate with me. I typically only splurge on a big piece if it is at an affordable price I have not seen before.
When did you become interested in design?
Through clothing/fashion initially, which became more of an obsession after college, and then during the pandemic, I started to focus on my space after having to spend so much time there. I like to go down research rabbit holes and furniture/design sort of came naturally at that point.
Where do you find inspiration?
Of course accounts I follow on Instagram, there is a great community online, and then also nerding out on my own research. I have found some great new accounts through your Newsletter too, which I love. I laugh at myself sometimes, taking pictures or videos of my place but it appears I’m not alone in enjoying it as a hobby! Lately, I’ve seen a few spaces online with minimal plants, and I’m quite inspired by those. In feng shui you use plants to provide or correct energy, but to decorate without plants seems like a very fun challenge in terms of managing a spaces energy, and I might experiment with this soon, which would be a big change for me.
Brendan’s Favorite Items
Varier Ekstrem chair
Serpente Table lamp designed by Elio Martinelli
Vintage Nesso Lamp by Giancarlo Mattioli
My stereo consisting of an NAD - 302 stereo amplifier, and Advent 5002 speakers with an Audio Technica ALT-LP5 turntable. (My stereo might be my favorite thing I own honestly.)
My family’s old Cesca chairs from when I was growing up. My parents and I repaired them because, as children, my brother and I put holes in the bottom of all the seats from standing on them all the time. 😂
I do have a dream chair on the way too, but that’s a surprise. 😉

@Rooms I would love a post on themes that you've seen re-occur across these room. The night photo is a good add.
Love love love that tiny Eames table tucked under the coffee table ✨✨
